Completing the Master Promissory Note
and Entrance Counseling


First-time borrowers of Federal Perkins Loans, Federal Direct Stafford Loans, or Federal Direct Plus Loans must sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN) as well as complete an Entrance Counseling Session, two documents in which the lender communicates rights, responsibilities, loan terms, and obligations to the borrower.

Instructions for each type of loan are provided below.


Federal Perkins Loans

Federal Perkins Loan borrowers must complete a Master Promissory Note in person at the Office of the Controller after the student registers for the term.
