Admission to Candidacy

Doctoral students (Ph.D., Psy.D.) must submit an admission to candidacy form to report the results of their preliminary examinations. Candidacy requires completion of preliminary examinations and specific course work required by the program. Doctoral students cannot propose a dissertation prior to being admitted to candidacy.

Note: The College of Graduate and Professional Studies no longer requires students to apply for preliminary examinations. This application process occurs at the department and program level. Students should contact their advisors or program coordinators.
