Welcome to the home of the Graduate Student
Association of ISU. GSA is responsible for looking after
the needs and interests of graduate students. Towards
this end, the GSA is providing online information about
its activities in an effort to make the GSA more
accessible to all graduate students.
GSA officers work to bring the needs
and voice of the students to the attention of the
College of Graduate Studies and ISU campus.
The GSA manages and maintains the ISU graduate email list
whereby students can communicate with the rest of the
graduate student community. The GSA web page also
provides information on upcoming events that concern graduate
students. We are planning to provide forums for contact
between administration, faculty, and graduate students.
We provide achievement awards and scholarships for graduate students.
The GSA also organizes advocates for graduate students
on a number of issues. Some of these issues may include
assistantship amounts, health insurance, orientation and
welcome for new graduate students, parking issues, grant
funding, IRB, financial aid, and other interdepartmental
issues.
In addition to the serious work of the GSA, we also work
to bring some fun to the GSA. One highlight on the
calendar is the GSA Social that is traditionally
organized by the GSA. The evening is marked with
opportunities where students can relax and mingle.
The GSA is made up of graduate students like yourself.
The GSA exists to represent the large, vibrant community
of graduate students. We can touch students' lives in
big and small ways. For the most part, our projects are
quite simple, for example, organizing social events and
bringing students together. But we are also in a unique
position to reach out to the ISU and the graduate
community. We are committed to issues that directly
affect us and to improve quality of life for students
here at ISU. With your help we can do that. |
