        The department offers Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees for students who want careers in
        athletic training. The Bachelor of Science degree is a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education
        Programs (CAAHEP) accredited program and the Master of Science degree is a National Athletic Trainers'
        Association Professional Graduate Education Review Committee (NATA-PEC GRC) approved program.
        Successful completion of the Bachelor of Science degree qualifies students to sit for the NATA Board of
        Certification, examination.

 

       FACILITIES

         The Department of Athletic Training is located in the School of Health and Human Performance Building. The
         department shares a modern, fully equipped athletic medicine facility and teaching clinical instructional laboratory,
         and supports an active sports injury research center. In addition to the classrooms, activity areas, and the
         swimming facility, the laboratories in human performance, biomechanics, and motor learning, support the
         undergraduate and graduate athletic training curricula. Further, the University library holdings in athletic training are
         excellent and include subscriptions to many athletic training, sports medicine, and fitness journals and periodicals

 

        CURRICULA

       Athletic Training Major (75 semester hours)

           Required Core (34 hours): 110--3 hrs.;  212--3 hrs.;  212L--1hr.; 225 --3 hrs.; 280 --3 hrs.; 363 --3 hrs.; 
                                                      365 --3 hrs.; 425 --3 hrs.; 435 --3 hrs.; 472 --3 hrs. ; 473 --3 hrs.; 475 --3 hrs.

           Required Support Courses (21 hours): ATTR 210--2 hrs.; 210L--1 hrs.; Counseling 433--3 hrs.; Family and
           Consumer Sciences 429 - 3 hrs.; Health and Safety 211--2 hrs.; 211L--1 hr.; 340--3 hrs.; Physical Education
            220--2 hrs.; 480 --4 hrs.

          *Clinical Experience (20 hours):  255--1 hr.;  256 --1 hr.; 355 --3 hrs.; 356--3 hrs.; 455 --6 hrs.; 456--6 hrs.

            Pre-requisite General Education Courses: Chemistry 105 @ 3 hrs.; 105L @ 1 hr.; Health and Safety 111 @
            3 hrs.; Physics 105
@ 3 hrs.; 105L @ 1 hr.; Psychology 101 @ 3 hrs.

            *Formal application and acceptance into the upper division of the major is required to take courses in the 300 or
             400 series. The number of students accepted to the upper division is limited. Application is made after
             successful completion of 110, 210, 210L, 212, 212L, 255, 256, 280, PE 220, CHEM 105, 105L, PHYS
             105, 105L, PSY 101, and HLTH 111. Selection Criteria are as follows: GPA in these pre-requisite courses
             (25%), Entrance Exam (25%), Observation Supervisor Evaluation (20%), Cumulative GPA (15%), Interview
             (15%).
