Vision Statement
The College of Health and Human
Performance has been an important initiator and
contributor to the educational experience at Indiana
State University since 1965.

Indiana State University's
governing board on Friday (Feb. 23)
approved creation of a new
comprehensive college to serve the
needs of health-related professions.
Acting on the recommendations of
a campus-community task force and
the university's chief academic
officer, the Board of Trustees
approved the College of Nursing,
Health and Human Services, effective
July 1.

The College of Nursing, Health and Human Services
will:
Upon fulfilling our vision statement,
the college's graduates will continue to be recognized
as among the most highly qualified and sought after
professionals.
Our Mission
Statement
The College of Nursing, Health
and Human Services consists of
the Departments of Athletic Training, Health, Safety and
Environmental Health Science, Physical Education, and Recreation and Sport
Management.
The primary curricula in the
College are designed to prepare students to enter the
following professional fields: (1) health and
disease/injury prevention careers in community
health education, therapeutic recreation, athletic
training, exercise science/fitness, environmental
health, occupational safety management, and driver
and traffic safety; (2) teaching careers in health
education or physical education, with
specializations in coaching; and (3) management
careers in fitness, recreation, safety, and sport.
In order to provide students with greater career
flexibility, opportunities are also offered in the
following areas: occupational toxicology/industrial
hygiene and driver and motorcycle safety education.
MISSION:
Through responsive, collaborative relationships with
faculty, staff, students, alumni, schools, and
business and industry, the schools' purpose is to
propagate an end product of high esteem which
impacts societal needs.
ACCREDITATION: The
following programs in the College have been given
additional recognition through their accrediting
agencies: the Athletic Training program accredited
by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health
Education Programs; the Environmental Health Science
program accredited by The National Environmental
Health Science and Protection Association; the
Recreation program is accredited by the National
Recreation and Park Association/American Association
for Leisure and Recreation Council on Accreditation;
and the Sport Management program is approved by the
National Association for Sport and Physical
Education and the North American Society for Sport
Management.
ACADEMIC
ADVISING: Each
department provides advisement to all of its
students. Upon entry students are assigned to a
faculty advisor in their major field of study. The
advisor will assist students with the planning of
their course work during their time at Indiana
State University. Program admission and academic
information may be obtained from the college's
office.
SCHOLARSHIPS: Each
department provides scholarships for their majors,
usually sophomore through senior status. See the

CAREER
OPPORTUNITIES: The
recognition that the future success of our nation
depends on the health and physical well-being of its
population and environment has increased the career
opportunities of the college's graduates for
positions in business, industry, commerce,
education, government, and public affairs.
