Student Employment Programs has changed how students apply for and obtain student employment on campus.  To check what positions are currently open, go to the  Application Tracking System.

General Qualifications for all Positions:

  • Preference for friendly, mature, students who can demonstrate an ability to work well with diverse public.
  • Good communication/customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions and changes in task.
  • Accumulative G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher.
  • Must be in good standing with the University and be enrolled for at least six credit hours per semester.
  • Preference for work-study applicants but can also hire regular payroll applicants.
  • Must be willing to work every other weekend on weekend rotation teams.
  • Successful candidates will be required to participate in on-the-job training and attend in-service seminars and scheduling meetings.
  • Some positions require a knowledge of campus buildings and departments.
Building Manager Job Description:
 
Description:

The Building Manager is responsible for the security of the facility from 4:00 p.m. to 12 midnight, Monday - Friday and 8:00 a.m. - 12 midnight on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. - 12 midnight on Sunday. 

  • This position serves as a public relations agent who welcomes and assists all building guests and occupants.
  • They monitor and support the programs/activities in the Student Union to ensure their success.
  • The Building Manager identifies and resolves any situations which might endanger the customer's safety or Union policies and procedures.
  • They are responsible for locking/unlocking rooms and assisting  with room setups.
  • They regularly patrol  the building for safety and security reasons and police the building's bulletin boards.
  • This position provides staff relief in the Auxiliary Services areas: Information Center, Parking Booths, and Sam's.
  • They work on a rotating weekend team and average 4 -12 hours per week.   
Qualifications:

Preference is given to students with previous supervisory, audio - visual, public relations and /or cash handling experience.   Preference is also given to  majors in Business Management, Safety Management, Criminology, or Public Relations.

Information Center Associate:
 
Description: 
  • The IC Associate responds to questions concerning phone numbers, addresses, University services, activities, and administrative processes.
  • They direct building traffic and provide assistance to guests.
  • The position maintains resource materials for campus guests and issues equipment such as periodicals, and jumper cables.
  •  They are responsible for sorting  all mail and packages received for occupants of  the Student Union.
  • They give refunds for vending machines on campus.

Qualifications: 

Preference is given to students with previous receptionist, sales or other public relations experience and /or majoring in Public Relations, Marketing, or Communication.  Preference is given to students who can demonstrate a knowledge of campus buildings and departments.

Parking Associate:
 
Description:
  • The Parking Associate serves as a public relations agent-providing customer service to the University and its guests.
  • The associate provides information, directions, resource materials and other assistance as requested while processing parking fees based on the amount of time guests park in the lot. 
  • The associate is responsible for the security and general operation of the parking lot and issues violation tickets to vehicles, which remain in the lot after closing.

Qualifications:

Preference is given to students with previous experience in cash handling and balancing.   Accounting experience is preferred. Candidate must possess experience in customer service and public relations. Basic math skills are needed to perform cash handling functions. You must be able to work under pressure during rush periods and have good verbal communication skills. Knowledge of campus buildings and streets is preferred.

Graphic/Web Designer:

Description:
  • The Graphic/Web Designer assists the Auxiliary Services Manager in maintaining the Union's website in design and layout using Microsoft FrontPage.
  •  They also assist with brochure and other promotional material development to market the services provided in the Student Union.

Qualifications:

Graphic Design majors are preferred.  Must have a working knowledge of FrontPage, Photoshop, and In-Design.

Photographer:

Description:
  • The Student photographer is responsible for taking pictures at Hulman Memorial Student Union and surrounding areas to showcase events, services, and people in the Student Union. 
  • They are responsible for maintaining a photo archive, obtaining and maintaining the release forms of people in the photos, and editing the pictures in Photoshop for publication to our website or other promotional materials we produce.

Qualifications:

Applicant must have experience with digital cameras and have a working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop. They must have flexible hours to allow them to adjust their work schedule to accommodate picture taking for  events scheduled throughout the day or evening.
