Get your blue on and be a part of the Sycamore family!
Dear Alumni and Friends,
The most spirited weekend at Indiana State is quickly approaching, and I couldn’t be more excited to welcome you to your University! Homecoming is one of the biggest traditions at Indiana State where thousands of alumni, students, friends, faculty, and staff come to Terre Haute to celebrate being Sycamores! We hope that you will join us at this year’s celebration as you will be able to connect with college friends and roommates and meet current students, new alumni, and more.
We kick-off Homecoming weekend on Friday, October 10 with the 52nd running of the Sycamore Tricycle Derby. This is always a favorite event for me personally, and among alumni as it brings back many memories.
That same evening, we will award four highly deserving alumni with the Alumni Association’s most prestigious honor, the Distinguished Alumni Award. Debbie Bareford, ’64; Tom Bareford, ’64; Charles Brown, ’76, GR ’93; and Krishna Pendyala, GR ’86; will be recognized during the program and all throughout the weekend. There’s no better time to recognize our most distinguished alumni than during our most spirited ISU weekend.
On Saturday, October 11, we will begin the morning with the Blue and White Parade – a perfect event for alumni, the community and future Sycamores of all ages. After the conclusion of the parade, we will head to Memorial Stadium for Tent City. Last year, we had more than 60 groups participating in Tent City. We are anticipating and even larger number this year. The Alumni Association tent will be set up in our usual location in the center of Tent City. Our tent will include a lunch, photo booth and a variety of giveaway items including our signature Homecoming stadium cup.
After mingling at Tent City for a few hours, I invite you to the football game. Sycamore football will take on Illinois State for this year’s Homecoming game. Please join me inside Memorial Stadium as we cheer on our Sycamore Football team.
To show your Homecoming spirit and Indiana State pride throughout the weekend, we encourage you to tag the Alumni Association in the photos you post on your personal social media sites. Be sure to tag us on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram by using hashtags #IndStateHoco and #BeBlueISU.
We look forward to seeing you on October 10-11 as we celebrate the most spirited weekend at Indiana State University!
