dreaming large - sustainable development in the  21st century

course description

Dreaming Large: Sustainable development in the 21st Century is designed to help Honor’s students become engaged in what promises to be one of the more pressing issues of the 21st century- that of sustainable development. Even without the threat of global warming it is clear that the human consumption of recourses has already outstripped the carrying capacity of the environment. It is also clear that we have the technology and the knowledge to do better. It is very likely that students who are in College today will be involved in radical improvements in technology and will also be the leaders developing the social and economic institutions that are much more sustainable than those we live with today. Much of the class is absorbed by students developing and contributing to community service projects. Projects are structured so that each student may make and be recognized for making a substantive contribution to improving the quality of life in the community.
