New Harmony, Indiana

Along the Wabash River in southwestern Indiana lies the extraordinary town of New Harmony. The site of several 19th century utopian communities, the town is best known to design buffs as the home of the Athenaeum, the first public building designed by internationally famous architect Richard Meier. Each year ISU's Contemporary Design class tours New Harmony, visiting the Athenaeum as well as the Phillip Johnson's "Roofless Church" and various historic 19th century interiors.
