Field Trips
Springfield, Illinois
As part of an American Design history course, ISU students took this road trip to Illinois' capital city some three hours west of Terre Haute. Upon our arrival we toured the opulent llinois State House, a magnificent example of Second Empire splendor and extravagance. The highlight of our trip, however, was an extended tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's legendary Dana-Thomas House, his 1902 masterpiece of Prairie Style design commissioned by eccentric socialite Susan Lawrence Dana. Before departing, we also stopped to visit the Abraham Lincoln Home and historic district.
