Some recent student comments about the program:
"This program is the perfect outlet for my creativity as well as my great attention to
detail... I never thought I could be so passionate about my career and I am
unbelievably impressed with the caliber of professionals that teach Interior
Design at Indiana State... their extreme variety of professional and personal
backgrounds only adds to the creative atmosphere. There is a great sense of
family here... and there is no doubt that our students are on their way to
becoming design professionals."
- Lauren, sophomore
"I transferred here from a school where you were nothing more than just a number. Here I've
found it is very much more one-on-one with the teachers. I feel so much at home
and feel like here I truly am somebody."
- Renee, junior
"By the end of my first semester, I learned so much more than I ever have before in just four
months..."
- Brittany, junior
"I am very proud to be part of the program. We have brilliant professors anda growing
number of eager students. I am currently participating in my required
internship class in Tempe,Arizona... As you may know, Arizona State University
has one of the top three interior design programs in the United States.
Throughout my interview I competed with many ASU design students and received a
position at one of the top commercial interior design firms the city."
- Megan, recent alum
"Over the past four years, I have had the opportunity to see this program grow and achieve
great new heights... this program is going places. We are quickly moving to the
top of all design schools in the region and country. The quality of work being
produced is amazing. Students are excited about coming to class and working."
- Lara, recent alum
"When I started here in Interior Design, I had no idea of the full extent of what I would be
expected to do. I soon learned that we do much more than just pick out paint and
draperies. I have learned so much in my two years here: manual drafting,
AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, how to build architectural models, building codes, and
so much more. When I graduate, I will be very proud to have Indiana State
University Interior Design Program listed on my diploma and to know what that
will mean to potential employers."
- Leah, senior
"When I came into the Interior Design program at Indiana State University, I had a very vague
idea about what the program entailed.. I had chosen the profession based on what
I saw on the popular shows 'Trading Spaces' and 'While You Were Out'. I thought
that all interior designers did was choose paint colors and fabrics. But when I
began attending my fall classes, I soon realized that the life of an Interior
Designer is much more involved and much more demanding. My classes soon became
very hands on.Although the program has proven to be very challenging, I am
certain that upon graduation I will be able to move into the real world and be
an asset to society because of the training and experience I will have received
at ISU. The interior design faculty are some of the most dedicated and
forward-thinking people I have ever met, and are consistent in keeping track of
each students progress and making sure that each potential interior designer
will be putting that knowledge towards the betterment of their community."
