The University’s Strategic Plan calls for doubling the percentage of undergraduate students who participate in an international experience by the year 2014. To achieve this goal, funds are being made available to support faculty and their students in short-term study-abroad programs. By providing opportunities for brief, faculty-led international experiences, we hope to encourage undergraduate students to consider studying abroad for longer periods-- a summer, semester, or even an academic year.
A travel seminar is a short-term, faculty-led program which integrates an international experience with an on-campus academic course. Travel would occur during spring break or early summer. Students would be enrolled in a regular course; departments may arrange for students who elect to participate in travel study to enroll for additional credits. It is expected that the program would enroll 8-12 undergraduate students.
Funding will cover a part of students’ travel expenses; faculty expenses will be fully covered by the grant or through other sources.
