International Travel Grants provide funds up to $2,000 to enable tenured
and tenure-track faculty to engage in projects that strengthen links
between Indiana State University and international partners, promote
recruitment of international students, expand opportunities for study
abroad, encourage international visiting scholars to come to ISU, and
strengthen international teaching/librarianship, curriculum development,
research, or service. Awardees are expected to benefit ISU’s goals in
international education. Proposals are reviewed by a panel of faculty
appointed by the Provost and International Programs & Services.
Tenured and tenure-track teaching and non-teaching faculty are eligible
to apply. Starting the Spring 2008 round of ITG applications, special
purpose and full-time temporary faculty who have served at ISU in those
capacities for the previous two consecutive years are also eligible to
apply. Beginning with the Academic Year 2008-2009, eligible applicants
are eligible to receive a maximum of two consecutive years
of International Travel Grant funding. Applicants seeking a second
consecutive year of funding should specify whether it is for a
continuation of a previous year’s project or it is for a new project,
and complete the appropriate forms.
The deadline for a completed and fully signed application for Fall 2011
is November 1, 2011, and for Spring 2012 is March 1, 2012.
See “what to submit” section.
Costs up to $2,000 for airfare, lodging, meals, transportation, and visa
fees are allowable. The need for each item requested should be clearly
justified. All reimbursements must be in accordance with ISU travel
policies.
Application will be based on soundness and significance of the proposed
project, how well grant criteria are addressed, and to what extent the
expected outcomes of the project will benefit ISU's goals in
international education. Priority will be given to projects extending
beyond conference participation. Consideration will be given to adequacy
of resources to implement the project and adherence to allowable costs.
A final report on how travel met the grant criteria is due in the IPS
office within three months of completion of the travel.
Awards are made by the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs
based on the recommendation of the Review Committee and IPS, and subject
to availability of funds.Awards will be announced by November for Fall
2011 competition and March for Spring 2012 competition.
