Media Advisory: ISU Aerospace department hosts flight competition at Hulman Field

Among the teams participating are the Indiana State University Flying Sycamores. Every autumn, by the National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) holds regional Safety and Evaluation Conferences (SAFECON) with the top teams advancing to the national SAFECON in the spring.
Seven teams will be participating in the competition. Aside from ISU, other schools competing will be the University of Illinois, Purdue University, Middle Tennessee State University, Southern Illinois University, Lewis University and Quincy University.
The best day visually will be Friday when teams will take to the air all day.
Thursday highlights
8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Preflight event (teams conduct an inspection of an aircraft that has been bugged with faults), Hulman Field
8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Simulator Event, ISU Simulator Lab, Myers Technology Center
Friday highlights
7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Power off and short field landing events, Hulman Field
1:30 - 4 p.m. Message drop event, Hulman Field
Saturday highlight
11-2 p.m. Flag football game, Hulman Field
Interesting factoid: Dennis Dunbar, an ISU alumnus, participated in this competition as a student. Dunbar was responsible for organizing the event at Hulman Field.
