Media Advisory: 10th Annual Tech T.R.E.K. at ISU Wednesday, Nov. 1
What: Tech T.R.E.K. (Technology, Resources, Education, Knowledge). The event is open to all high schools, with 21 schools registered for this year's event.
Who: Nearly 400 high school students from Indiana and Illinois
When: From 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 1). See schedule of events below.
Where: Tilson Auditorium, Tirey Hall on the Indiana State University campus
Why: To promote problem solving, teamwork, communication, curriculum integration and technological literacy; To provide ISU technology education students with opportunity to "practice" developing activities that address technology education curriculum in a contextual format and working with high school students; To provide high school students with an opportunity to apply skills and knowledge from a variety of subject areas and to work as a team in a competitive environment.

AWARDS
1- 1:30 p.m. - Tilson Auditorium
First-place school trophies will be awarded to winning teams from each event. Certificates will be awarded to students on teams placing 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd- in each event.
Participating schools: Among the schools participating are Brown County High School, Clay City High School, Columbus East High School, Kankakee Valley High School, Marshall (IL) High School, Martinsville (IL) High School, New Palestine High School, North Vermillion High School, Perry Meridian High School, Rockville High School, South Decatur High School, South Knox High School, South Vermillion High School, Sullivan High School, Terre Haute South, Triton Central High School and Western Boone High School
Point of interest: ISU's new Technology Education instructor, Kyle Lanoue, was a Technology Career Advocate when he was a student at ISU. Kyle helped plan and implement the first Tech TREK back in 1996. As a high school teacher, Kyle brought teams of students to the event every year. He is now the advisor for the Technology Education Club students who are working as developers and facilitators for this year's competitive events.
