Career and Technical Education

The primary goal of the Career and Technical
Education is to assist the student to become an effective and competent teacher in the classroom and laboratory and to meet individual professional goals. The emphasis of this major is occupational experience, which is required as a part of the degree
program. This experience may be obtained prior to entry into the program or may be satisfied through a cooperative work program.

The Career and Technical Education major also allows persons to earn teaching certification for the public schools of Indiana. Persons not desiring teacher certification may use program electives to meet their needs.

Human Resource Development

The purpose of the Human Resource Development for Higher Education and Industry degree at Indiana State University is to prepare professionals for higher education, industry, business, government, and other agencies. Graduates are competent in planning, conducting, and managing education, training, and other human resource development activities.

The degree has been designed to recognize current competencies of the experienced individual. Flexibility is designed into the delivery system and sequencing of courses. Transfer credit is evaluated. Advanced technical specialization in the current discipline is required. The experienced mature student is the most appropriate candidate for the degree.

Technology Education

The Technology Education degree program prepares persons to teach in the area of communications, construction, manufacturing, and transportation. The content is derived extensively from industry and the technological impact that industry has made on society.
