The Ruth Bammer Bain Scholarship was established in Mrs. Bain's
memory in 1981 by her husband, Robert Bain, her sister, Mrs. Mary Lou
Sauer and contributions of friends. Mrs. Bain was a graduate of Indiana
State and taught physical education and health for more than 30 years in
the public schools of Evansville. She had outstanding programs in the
schools where she taught. She remembered the Physical Education staff at
Indiana State as having made great contributions to her professional
career.

The Florence Curtis Memorial Scholarship in Physical Education is
made possible from a bequest by Miss Florence M. Curtis. Miss Curtis
served on the Indiana State University Faculty for 33 of her 44-year
career in education. She was a professor of Women's Physical Education
and served as Chairperson of the Department of Physical Education for
women. She retired from the ISU Faculty in 1957 and she passed away in
1972. One or two recipients are awarded the scholarship.

The "I" Women's Memorial Scholarship was established in 1950 by the
alumnae in memory of "I" Women who were deceased. The purpose of the

The Eleanor Forsythe St. John Scholarship is in honor of Eleanor
Forsythe St. John. Dr. St. John was a 1935 graduate of Indiana State
University. She served on the ISU Faculty for 33 years, 1943-76, and was
Chairperson of the Department of Physical Education for Women for 16
years (1960 until her retirement in 1976). Dr. St. John died in
January 2001.
