Kenneth R. Badertscher Memorial Scholarship - No Application Required

Criteria
- No application necessary - determined based on the committee's review of all eligible students in the major
- Junior ‑ 63 hours at end of Fall term
  - highest GPA, Rec. and Sport Mgt. major
- Senior ‑ 94 hours at end of Fall term
  - highest GPA, Rec. and Sport Mgt. major
- full‑time student
- at least 24 credit hours within the department

RUTH BAMMER BAIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Ruth Bammer Bain Scholarship was established in Mrs. Bain's memory in 1981 by her husband, Robert Bain, her sister, Mrs. Mary Lou Sauer and contributions of friends. Mrs. Bain was a graduate of Indiana State and taught physical education and health for more than 30 years in the public schools of Evansville. She had outstanding programs in the schools where she taught. She remembered the Physical Education staff at Indiana State as having made great contributions to her professional career.

Criteria
- Evansville graduating high school senior woman
- planning to go to college to major in PE, or
- recipient of the award who is enrolled at ISU
  - and satisfactorily pursues major in PE
- seeking renewal of an award
- financial need

FLORENCE CURTIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Florence Curtis Memorial Scholarship in Physical Education is made possible from a bequest by Miss Florence M. Curtis. Miss Curtis served on the Indiana State University Faculty for 33 of her 44-year career in education. She was a professor of Women's Physical Education and served as Chairperson of the Department of Physical Education for women. She retired from the ISU Faculty in 1957 and she passed away in 1972. One or two recipients are awarded the scholarship.

- 3.0 or better GPA
- career in Physical Education
- professional activities and attributes
- financial need

RUBY J. EAST SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established in 1984 by Miss Ruby J. East, Associate Professor Emeritus of Women's Physical Education at Indiana State University. She retired from the ISU faculty on August 31, 1965 completing 38 years of service.

Criteria
- student majoring in physical education
- financial need
- academic achievement

"I" WOMEN'S MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The "I" Women's Memorial Scholarship was established in 1950 by the alumnae in memory of "I" Women who were deceased. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial aid (a minimum amount of $150.00) and to encourage the development of a well-prepared teacher of physical education with a variety of skills and interests.

Criteria
- completed a minimum of 48 semester hours
- enrolled in Teacher Education in the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport
- selected on the basis of
  - skill
  - scholarship
  - service to the department
  - participation in campus activities outside the major

Robert H. Meyne Memorial Scholarship

Criteria
- Recreation and Sport Management major
- good academic standing
- evidence of involvement in professional organizations
- evidence of leadership in recreation programming
- financial need
- enrollment in Fall and Spring terms of the next academic year
- full‑time student
- 24 credit hours within the department

Brenda Murray Scholarship

Criteria
- Jr./Sr. level standing as a Recreation and Sport Management major
- minimum GPA of 2.75
- demonstrated interest in outdoor recreation
- enrollment in Fall and Spring terms of the next academic year
- full‑time student
- must have 24 credit hours within the department

SUE PERNICE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Criteria
- outstanding student enrolled in the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport
  - majoring in teacher preparation
- minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4 point scale
- selection in spring, must be a junior
- awarded in fall, must be a senior
- demonstrate leadership abilities and active extra-curricular participation
- preference given to those applicants deemed by the committee to have the greatest potential to be an outstanding teacher
  - commitment to students and the profession is paramount

ELEANOR FORSYTHE ST JOHN SCHOLARSHIP

The Eleanor Forsythe St. John Scholarship is in honor of Eleanor Forsythe St. John. Dr. St. John was a 1935 graduate of Indiana State University. She served on the ISU Faculty for 33 years, 1943-76, and was Chairperson of the Department of Physical Education for Women for 16 years (1960 until her retirement in 1976). Dr. St. John died in January 2001.

Criteria
- physical education - teaching major
- completed a minimum of 60 hours
- minimum GPA of 3.00
- commitment to a career in teaching
- shows an active interest in athletics and sports for women

NORMA F. SCHUESSLER SCHOLARSHIP

The Norma F. Schuessler Scholarship was established in 2003.

Criteria
- full-time student
- declared major in physical education
- preferred female student
- junior or senior status at the time the scholarship is received
- in good academic standing
- respected by the faculty and peers in her/his field
- possess a strong commitment and work ethic to her/his studies

PAUL SELGE SCHOLARSHIP

The Paul Selge Scholarship was established in 2005.

Criteria
- full-time student
- good academic standing
- majoring in physical education
- desire to coach
- preference given to student with an aquatics emphasis, WSI certification, and/or has volunteered within Red Cross or equivalent aquatics program

Sharon Volpert Sheets Memorial Scholarship

Criteria
- Therapeutic Recreation major
- resident of Vigo County (If no Vigo County resident applies, then a resident of Indiana may be eligible.)
- enrollment in Fall and Spring of the next academic year
- submit a brief essay regarding future career aspirations in the field
- 24 credit hours within the department
- full-time student in good standing

THE PAUL L. WOLF SCHOLARSHIP

The Paul L. Wolf Scholarship was established by friends of Paul Wolf in recognition of his 42 years of service as a teacher and coach on the Faculty of Indiana State University. Mr. Wolf died in March 1995.

Criteria
- physical education major
- completed at least 31 hours
- shows scholarship skill in a variety of activities
- demonstrates a desire to teach physical education
- financial need
