Kara Kish, MPA, CPRP, CPSI
Kara Kish, MPA, CPRP, CPSI is the Superintendent for Vigo County Parks and Recreation Department in Terre Haute, Indiana. Previously, Kara was Assistant Superintendent for Vigo County Parks and Recreation Department, the Recreation Manager for Brownsburg Parks and Recreation Department, Indiana and also a Recreation Program Coordinator for Fishers Parks and Recreation Department, Indiana. She is the immediate Past-President for the Indiana Park and Recreation Association, and has held various leadership and board positions with IPRA since 2005. Kara earned her BS in Recreation and Sport Management from Indiana State University in 2005 and completed her Masters of Public Affairs with a concentration in Public Management from IUPUI in December of 2010.
Kara is the 2011 National Recreation and Park Association Robert W. Crawford Outstanding Young Professional award winner. In 2010, Kara was awarded a NRPA Young Professional Fellowship and in 2012 she received an AAPRA Young Professional Externship. Locally, Kara is on the Board of Directors for Our Green Valley Alliance for Sustainability, on the Advisory Council for the ISU Institute for Community Sustainability, on the Board of Directors for Wabash River Development and Beautification, Inc. and is a member of the Terre Haute Young Leaders.
Kara has served as a Lecturer for Indiana State University’s Department of Kinesiology, Recreation and Sport Management since 2010, teaching Public Administration in Parks and Recreation, Introduction to Recreation and Sport Management, and Fundamentals of Activity Planning.
