Charlotte W. Ghurye Memorial Scholarships:
These awards are at the bequest of Professor
Charlotte W. Ghurye, professor of German at Indiana State University
from 1968-1991, and are given to support German studies at Indiana
State. Recipients are chosen by the German faculty based on their
academic excellence in German.

Frances Sanders Memorial German Scholarship (given by
the Terre Haute Oberlandler Club):
A full-time student studying
advanced German, who has attained at least a junior standing, and who
will be returning to Indiana State the following year. Final selection
will be based on scholarship, anticipated future use of the German
language, and dedication to the program in and out of the classroom.
Julie Bevilacqua Cutter Memorial Scholarship:
Awarded to a foreign born, full-time [undergraduate or graduate] student
majoring or minoring in language education and who has demonstrated
academic excellence. To be considered for this award, please complete an

Mary Olga Peters Award:
Established in honor of
Mary Olga Peters, who served on the ISU faculty for 34 years and was
chairperson of the LLL department for nine years (1954-63).The
department-wide award is presented to a student majoring in the
department who holds membership in Phi Sigma Iota, plans to teach in a
language, and demonstrates qualities of leadership and good character.
Outstanding Undergraduate Graduating Senior:
Selected by the LLL faculty each year for
recognition by the College of Arts and Sciences as the Department's outstanding undergraduate student
from among its graduating seniors.
