Study Abroad is one of the most important and exciting parts of any academic program in languages.  The Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics works closely with the Study Abroad Office (Stalker Hall, Room 122) to bring quality study abroad opportunities to ISU students.
There are opportunities in over 35 countries worldwide to study for a summer, semester or even full year.  You can study in English or in a foreign language, or even combine study in English with another language.

Important! Financial aid can be used and scholarships are available.

Semester Abroad Programs with MCSA/AHA

Vienna, Austria       Macerata, Italy       Segovia, Spain    Morelia, Mexico

These programs offer a single semester abroad.   Students are housed with families and receive close individual attention.  The Vienna and Macerata programs are of particular interest to students who are not majoring in the Department. They offer language courses from beginning to intermediate, and courses in English in the humanities and business.  Students can reasonably transfer these courses for Liberal Studies credit.    The program in Morelia, Mexico, also offers a TEFL practicum, allowing students to teach English in a Mexican school.

Full Year Abroad Programs with ISEP

ISEP is an international exchange organization with sites throughout the world.  Advanced students in the Department can take courses in their major or minor program at any number of world renowned universities.  And the cost is quite appealing: students pay ISU tuition and room-and-board for the duration of their stay, plus travel expenses.  See the Study Abroad office web site for program locations.
