DID YOU KNOW? There is a SHORTAGE of Foreign Language Teachers in Indiana. And, according to the NY Times, the demand for Teachers of English as a Second Language is growing most rapidly in the South, the Midwest, and the Northeast.

BY THE NUMBERS:

54,343 = Number of immigrants living in Indianapolis metropolitan area in 2000

152 = Percentage increase since 1990

42,994 = Hispanics living in Indianapolis metropolitan area in 2000

3.4 = Percentage of Indianapolis metropolitan area population that is foreign-born

50 = Percentage Indiana's immigrant population grew from 1995 to 2000

209 = Number of native languages, other than English, spoken by immigrants in Indiana
