Maria Falzone
SEX RULES!
Maria will present a 90 minute lecture on using humor to impress the importance of using safer sex practices. Maria Falzone has been producing Sex Rules! (9 rules to greater and safer sex) for the past 14 years on hundreds of college campuses nationwide. Maria was a finalist in the prestigious San Francisco International Comedy Competition and the only women to host this event in it's 35 year history.
Dorene Hojnicki, M.D.
All Hazards Preparedness
Dorene Hojnicki, D. O. is the Director of the Vigo County Emergency Management Agency. As the keynote speaker on All Hazards Preparedness she brings a unique perspective from her past experiences as a Registered Nurse, an Emergency Medicine Physician, and Medical Director of the Indiana State University Student Health Center before going into Emergency Management. She is very acquainted with the college setting and its resources as well the local, state and federal recourses and agencies that may be involved in a response to any type emergency on a college or university campus. She will identify the need for campuses to build relationships with these outside agencies for effective disaster planning. She will also identify the changes from everyday operations that must take place to effectively manage a disaster response. And she will explain the benefits of National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training for the campus communities.
Learning Objectives:
The participant will learn to identify the various local, state and federal agencies who could be major stake holders in planning and implementing responses to any type of campus or community disaster.
The participants will learn what fundamental changes in routine schedules must change in order to facilitate a timely and effective response to any type of campus or community disaster. Suspension of normal daily duties may require altered standards care which may be employed under Declaration of a State of Emergency. Implementation of Incident Command structure from the NIMS program provides a framework to respond to any size disaster or emergency.
The participants will learn the potential value of considering NIMS training and CERT training for first responders and members of the campus community.
