Indiana State University
Description:
The University offers a bachelor of arts (B.A.) and a bachelor of science (B.S.) in liberal studies.
The Liberal Studies Program is designed for students who wish to pursue expansive study in the liberal arts and sciences with a custom-designed concentration. Highly motivated students and students with specialized career or professional goals will find this combination of flexibility and focus very attractive.
The program offers students the flexibility to combine courses or minors to create a concentration in an area of study not offered elsewhere in the University.
Advising is an important part of each student's academic program. Each student works with the program coordinator to select a concentration—and then is assigned to a faculty advisor from the area of concentration.
Students benefit from relatively small classes taught by award-winning faculty who have a diversity of specialties. Most hold doctoral degrees, and many edit journals, publish books and articles, conduct research, and speak at national and international meetings within their specializations.
Special Note: The Liberal Studies Program is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, and is offered in cooperation with the colleges of the University.
