Welcome!

Welcome to the School of Music at Indiana State University, a school with a long-standing tradition of excellence in the training of musicians for a variety of professional pursuits. Indiana State music graduates have distinguished themselves in a variety of ways. Many are outstanding teachers in public schools, colleges/universities and private studios while others have achieved recognition in such specialized areas as music business and performance. The music faculty, a community of scholars, performers and teachers, share an uncommonly strong commitment to their students in the school.

Music Career Weekend

Interested in studying music? Music Career Weekend is a special weekend designed for high school juniors and seniors to gather information concerning the music profession and Indiana State University. This is your opportunity to visit the ISU campus, meet music students and faculty, and learn more about our School of Music.

Highlights of the weekend include observation of classes and lessons; meetings with music faculty and ISU music majors; presentations concerning preparation for auditions and financial aid; and attendance of performances by ISU ensembles. You may also audition for scholarship consideration during this weekend.

This is a weekend not to miss, so call the music office at (812) 237–2771 to request information or register by phone. Application materials are available from the Music Career Weekend page

Audition requirements, along with degree and scholarship information, can be accessed through the Prospective Student link in the left side navigation bar. If you have any questions, please send us an e-mail at isu-music@mail.indstate.edu or give us a call at 812–237–2771. We will be happy to answer your questions and guide you through the application process.

Resources for music educators

The School of Music is a great resource for arts educators. We encourage area educators to consider class trips to experience one of our many faculty or student recitals, which are generally free and open to the public. Many of our faculty members are willing to do workshops or masterclasses and our faculty ensembles frequently do outreach in schools. Private music lessons for adults and students are available through the Community School of the Arts
