Scholarship Name: Stanley Petrulis Scholarship in Bassoon
Description: The Stanley Petrulis Scholarship in Basson
was established in 1988 by Dr. Petrulis, bassoon instructor at Indiana
State University from 1969 until 1992. He received his Bachelor
of Music degree with the PerformerÍs Certificate from the Eastman
School of Music, his Master of Music degree from Catholic University
of America, and his Doctor of Music degree from Indiana University.
Before entering into full-time teaching, he played professionally
in the United States Air force Band and Orchestra, the National
Symphony Orchestra, and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. While
teaching at ISU, he was principal bassoonist with the Terre Haute
Symphony Orchestra, and a member of the ISU Faculty Woodwind Quintet.
Dr. Petrulis died in March 2002.

Selection Criteria: The scholarship is open to a music major
who demonstrates excellence in bassoon performance.
Award Amount: $500.00 to $1,000.00
Number of Awards Given Annually: 1
How to Apply: The scholarship is awarded based on the audition
and/or performance record in addition to other established criteria.
There is no formal application process.
