Kara Claybrook

Soprano, Kara Claybrook, is a native of Terre Haute, Indiana. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from Taylor University and a Master of Music degree in vocal performance from Illinois State University. During her graduate studies, Ms. Claybrook appeared as Adele in Illinois State’s production of Die Fledermaus. Also an experienced dancer, she was cast as a Shark girl in the University’s production of West Side Story. Ms. Claybrook appeared as the soprano soloist in Indiana State University’s performance of Rutter’s Mass for the Children. Most recently, she performed Arthur Gottchalk’s Songs of Love with the Indiana State University’s Faculty String Quartet at Indiana State University’s 20th Annual Contemporary Music Festival. In July, Ms. Claybrook traveled to Austria to participate in the University of Miami’s School of Music at Salzburg.

As a performer and teacher, Ms. Claybrook is well versed in a number of vocal styles ranging from opera to musical theater, gospel to contemporary Christian. Locally, she is a sought after performer and often appears as a guest artist at local churches and community functions. In December of 2010, Ms. Claybrook released her first full-length recording entitled My Strength and Song.

Ms. Claybrook, an experienced teacher, is a member of the teaching staff at Indiana State University’s Community Music Center where she offers vocal instruction to community members of all ages. She is also a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
