David Mannell

David Mannell a native of Kansas, received his BME from Emporia State Universtiy. Mr. Mannell has appeared in leading roles with Central City Opera, University of Illinois, Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony, Emporia State University, Augusta Opera, Muddy River Opera Company and Indianapolis Opera Company. The summers of 1993 and 1994 he spent in Italy with the Rome Festival Opera singing Tamino in Mozartäs The Magic Flute and Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni also by Mozart. He has performed leading roles in over twenty different operas and musicals.

Mr. Mannell is a former Director of Music for the Madison school district in Madison, Kansas. He was with the school system for seven years teaching Kdg. - 12th grade vocal music.

Mr. Mannell has received the following awards: Bel Canto Foundation Winner, The Opera Guild of San Antonio Finalist, Marguerite McCammon Award for Vocal Excellence, The Peggy Fisher Award for Promising Young Singer, Finalist for Metropolitan Opera District Regional Auditions, First Place in NATS, Semi- finalist in the Philadelphia/Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition and Master Teacher Nominee for Kansas .

Mr. Mannell has been an Artist in Residence with Opera Omaha, Wildwood Opera, Little Rock Arkansas and Indianapolis Opera Company. He appeared with the Classical Music Festival as Tenor Soloist in Eisenstadt, Austria. In the fall of 1991 Mr. Mannell studied with Maestro Arrigo Pola in Modena, Italy. Maestro Pola is the former teacher of tenor Luciano Pavarotti. Mr. Mannell is also a student of Mr. John Wustman, University of Illinois, and Mrs. Shirley Moore, Emporia, Kansas.

He has been guest soloist with the Northwest Indiana Symphony in Benjamin Britten's Serenade and at the University of Illinois' 100th anniversary of the music department in Beethovenäs Ninth Symphony. He currently directs the Educational Shows for the Indianapolis Opera Company. He toured with Mr. John Wustman on his Schubert Concert series and was one of the soloist on the final Schubert concert with Mr. Wustman. He resides in Indianapolis, IN where he teaches private voice.
