2012 Summer Institute for Conductor Training

Indiana State University is proud to present its second annual Summer Institute for Conductor Training—Motion and Gesture on the Podium. This five-day clinic features renowned conductors Keith Brion, conductor of the New Sousa Band and Rodney Winther, former Director of Bands at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. The host and Director of Bands at ISU is Dr. Roby G. George. Highlights of the symposium will include artistic baton techniques and strategies, advanced rehearsal techniques, chamber wind music and its importance to the wind repertoire, special topics on specific composers, score preparation, and programming for the modern wind band and chamber ensembles. Attendees will participate in daily conducting with a live ensemble in the morning hours and critical roundtable discussions and sessions during the afternoon hours. Evening hours will be devoted to special topics. This institute is a great way to enhance your professional development both on and off the podium while engaging in artistic, insightful, and experiential learning. Teachers and wind conductors of all levels are invited to attend. We hope to see you in Terre Haute in July.
