State in the news: Infant mortality task force

January 27 2014

Tribune-Star reporter Sue Loughlin interviewed Jack Turman, dean of the College of Nursing, Health, and Human Services, for a Sunday feature about the infant mortality task force on which he will serve. Reducing infant deaths has long been a passion for Turman, who came to Indiana State last fall. He cites smoking by expectant mothers as a major contributor to infant deaths.

The Associated Press picked up the Tribune-Star article, leading to coverage by dozens of news outlets nationwide including the Indianapolis Star, the Washington Times and the San Francisco Chronicle.
