Concert Band, ensembles perform Oct. 14

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Indiana State University Concert Band, along with three chamber ensembles, will present a concert at 4 p.m. Oct. 14 in Tilson Auditorium.

The Concert Band will be under the direction of Dennis Ballard and Doug Keiser. Also on the podium during the Concert Band portion of the program will be student conductors Kyle Govert, Lowell; Melissa James, Crestwood, Ill.; Veronica Lattis, Rising Sun; and Chris Haddad, Bloomington.

Among the works to be performed by the Concert Band are Robert Sheldon’s “Visions of Flight,” Pierre LaPlante’s “Prairie Songs,” “Hymn for Band” by Hugh Stuart, Michael Daugherty’s “Alligator Alley” and “Golden Vanity” by Ralph Vaughn Williams.

The Flute Quintet will perform Haydn’s “Suite in C: Flute Clock Pieces” while the Brass Choir will perform three pieces, including William Byrd’s “The Earl of Oxford’s Marche” and Dietrich Buxtehude’s “Fanfare and Chorus.”

Two saxophone quartets will perform during the concert. One quartet will perform Bach’s “Prelude and Fugue No. 7 from the Well-Tempered Clavier” while another performs Faustin et Maurice Jeanjean’s “Quatuor pour saxophones.”
