World Food Day teleconference Tuesday

Indiana State University is among more than 1,000 sites around the world that will take part in the 24th annual International World Food Day Teleconference Tuesday (Oct. 16).

“It’s just to make people more aware of the hunger issue going on all over the world and how by making small steps we can change it,” said Amanda Chapman, a junior dietetics major from Terre Haute.

"Climate: Changes, Challenges and Consequences" is the theme of this year's event, which runs from noon to 3 p.m. in Hulman Memorial Student Union, Dede III. The first hour will feature a live panel discussion from Washington, D.C., followed by a presentation by Malea Crosby with Angel Food Ministries from 1 - 2 p.m. She will speak about her experience working with the poor and their food situation in Guatemala. A teleconference question and answer session is scheduled from 2 - 3 p.m.

A non-perishable food drive is under way at ISU in conjunction with World Food Day. Collection bins are located throughout the campus.
