November 5 2007

Kevin Snider has been named chief of staff in the Office of the President at Indiana State University, where he also serves as executive assistant for strategic planning, institutional research and effectiveness.

As chief of staff, Snider is responsible for the efficient operation of the President’s Office, including budget analysis, scheduling and staffing.

He will help coordinate the university’s interim legislative efforts and, in concert with the president, will work with the interim director of the International Affairs Center to review and revise operating procedures, structure, strategic plans and goals and ensure that current commitments are fulfilled. He will also lead the university’s self-study, mission exploration and accreditation efforts and serve as liaison to the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

“I am very pleased to have Kevin serve in this expanded role that builds upon his current responsibilities in leading institutional strategic planning and measurement of effectiveness. Kevin has played a significant part in helping advance our new institutional identity and implementing key university initiatives,” said Lloyd W. Benjamin III, president of Indiana State University.

“In his new role, Kevin will take greater responsibility for directing the university self-study in preparation for the 2010 NCA accreditation visit as well as coordinating the internal planning and communication of the Cabinet.”

Snider recently completed an appointment as interim associate vice president for enrollment management at Indiana State. He has been executive assistant to the president since 2001. He previously served as assistant vice president of institutional research and effectiveness and as director of institutional research and testing.

Prior to joining Indiana State in 1995, Snider served as a research analyst and as an adjunct professor at The American University in Washington, D.C. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from The American University as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees in international relations from San Francisco State University.

While at ISU, Snider founded the Indiana Public Data Advisory Group, an organization of public college and university institutional researchers that provides objective analysis to the state legislators and the Indiana Commission for Higher Education.
