Hungarian-born pianist to perform Feb. 24

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Hungarian-born pianist Judit Bach will perform as part of the Indiana State University Visiting Artist Series at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 in the Recital Hall of ISU’s Center for Performing and Fine Arts.

She will also present a master class for ISU piano students from 9:30-11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25 in the Recital Hall. Both events are free and open to the public.

Bach will perform works such as Beethoven’s “Sonata in F Minor Op. 57,” Fanny Mendelssohn’s “Melody” and “ Il Saltarello Romano,” “The Machine” by Sándor Vándor, Zoltán Kodály’s “Dances of Marosszék” and “Ostinato” by Béla Bartók at her recital on Feb. 24.

Bach is a native of Budapest, Hungary, where she learned music through the Kodály method and attended the Béla Bartók Conservatory of Music. She earned Doctor of Musical Arts and Masters of Music degrees at The Ohio State University, and a Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Oregon.

She is a member of a number of honor societies and professional organizations including Phi Kappa Lambda, Phi Beta Phi, Music Teachers National Association, Piano Guild, and is listed in many editions of the Marquis' Who's Who series.

She has taught studio piano lessons, ensemble coaching, class piano, accompaniments, and classes in music theory, music history, and orchestration at Capital University, The Ohio State University, Ohio Wesleyan University, and Jefferson Academy of Music at OSU.

Bach regularly appears at events of the Hungarian Cultural Association and was invited guest artist to perform at the Hungarian Embassy in Washington, D.C. in 2002 and 2003. In addition to performing in the U.S., she has performed in Hungary, Austria, and Australia.
