Press conference to release quality of life survey results

April 22 2008

A press conference has been scheduled for Thursday (April 24) to release the findings of the Indiana State University-conducted Wabash Valley Quality of Life Survey.

The press conference will be held at 2:15 p.m. in Science 176.

The survey focuses upon community norms regarding alcohol and perception of the problem of underage drinking, said Thomas Steiger, professor of sociology and women’s studies. The survey was sponsored by the local Strategic Prevention Framework--State Incentive Grant to combat underage and binge drinking.

“The survey is part of an effort to understand the ‘epidemic’ in Vigo County,” Steiger said.

Indiana State students collected the data and will be part of the presentation. Others involved with grant also will be in attendance.
