TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indiana State University's Team Sycamore Racing attended its very first NHRA Nationals Event this past weekend, the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals at Norwalk, Ohio. Six students played active roles at Nationals, each one assigned different tasks necessary for the successful operation of the Team.
Team Sycamore Racing received two awards -- one for Best Appearing Crew and the other for Best Engineered Car. These two awards are rarely given to the same team at the same time. According to the NHRA, the last time it happened was at the race in Phoenix, 1992. For each award they received the coveted "Wally" trophy. Related photos can be found at the following two links:
The team will be action July 5 at Chandler Motorsports Park in Chandler, Ind. (near Evansville). They will compete in the Invitational Top Outlaw Quick 32 drag racing event and in the National Dragster Challenge.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS FOR JULY 5
Gates open: 11 a.m.
TestNTune: 12:00 - 2:30 p.m.
Time Trials: 3 p.m.
Eliminations follow 2nd round of time trials.
Admission is $10.

Team Sycamore Racing will also attend two upcoming non-racing functions. TSR Team Members and the dragster will be at the Vigo County Fair July 6-12. The team will do a meet and greet, sign autographs at pose for pictures at Indiana State University's booth at the Indiana State Fair on GM DAY, Sunday, Aug. 10.
