'Feel Safe at ISU' program to begin

October 21 2008

The Indiana State University Department of Public Safety is pleased to announce the establishment of its "Feel Safe at ISU" program beginning Monday, October 27. The program consists of short informational items that will be included each day on the ISU Global E-mail Digest and MyISU Portal. Its intention is to increase awareness among the campus community about safety programs offered by Public Safety, provide information about where people might go to get more detailed safety information, or just provide simple safety tips.

Items such as, "Know what's going on. Sign up for Rave text messaging - it's free. More information at www.indstate.edu/pubsafety/", and "Crime logs are published Monday through Friday and are available for viewing at the Public Safety Department. The logs include the nature, date, time, general location, and disposition of each reported crime" will be among those that will be included in the regular notices.

"There are a number of things we do and a great deal of useful information that we seem to have a difficult time letting everyone know about", said Bill Mercier, Director of Public Safety. "It is hoped this program will be another way we can raise awareness."
