October 24 2008
The concert will include the ISU Concert Choir, Women's Choir and Sycamore Singers. A wide variety of repertoire will be performed, though works of contemporary American composers will be featured.
"There is so much wonderful choral music being written these days," said Scott Buchanan, ISU's director of choral activities. "Today's composers are so creative, not just in their beautiful melodies, but in their use of thick harmonic structures and ever-changing rhythmic patterns. Singing voices must be so flexible nowadays in order to correctly perform to the wishes of the composer. It is very challenging, but so much fun to experience the contemporary choral art."
Admission is free and open to the public. For more information about the concert, call 812-237-2763.
