Residence hall fire confined to rest room

December 6 2008

A small fire in a rest room resulted in the brief evacuation of three Indiana State University residence halls Friday night but no one was injured.

The fire began at approximately 11:50 p.m. in a second floor men's room of Caleb Mills Hall. ISU Public Safety officers and Terre Haute firefighters extinguished the fire within 15 minutes.

Occupants of Mills and adjacent Blumberg and Cromwell halls were evacuated to nearby Hulman Memorial Student Union, but were allowed to return to their rooms a short time later.

Damage was limited to a wall and ceiling of the rest room. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
