Global warming presentations scheduled at ISU

April 11 2006

Indiana State University's Cunningham Memorial Library will host two events next week related to global warming.

The film "The Day After Tomorrow" will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Monday (April 17). Kevin Baumann, director of ISU's Climate Lab, will lead a discussion following the film. A panel discussion on "Global Warming: Fact or Fiction?" is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday (April 19). Panelists will be Jesse Walkeer, WTWO meteorologist; Greg Bierly, associate professor of geography at ISU; Debra Israel, assistant professor of economics; and Michael Chambers, associate professor of political science, who will discuss the Kyoto Accord.

Both events will take place in the library's first floor browsing area. The panel discussion will include opportunities for audience members to ask questions of the panelists.

In conjunction with the events, a video titled "Climate Change, Wildlife and Wildlands" will show continuously in the library's browsing area throughout the day on Monday and Wednesday. The video was produced by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, National Park Service and Fish and Wildlife Service.
