ISU Concert Band, Symphonic Band Concert April 23 features student conductors

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Indiana State University Concert Band and Symphonic Band will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. April 23 in Tilson Auditorium. The Concert Band will perform under the direction of Dennis Ballard. Also on the podium during the Concert Band portion of the program will be student conductors Kathy Seidenstucker, Mallory Stalbaum and Kevin Lewis. Doug Keiser will conduct the Symphonic Band; with John Pinson will participating as a graduate conductor.

Prior to the start of the concert, selections will be performed by the clarinet quartet, flute quintet, trumpet quartet, saxophone quartet and brass quintet.

Among the works to be performed by the Concert Band include Jim Mahaffey's "Rollercoaster," Jim Curnow's "Korean Folk Rhapsody," "Danse Pavane" by John Cacavas, Caesar Giovanni's "Overture in B Flat," "Contemplation" by Elena Roussanova Lucas and Frank Ticheli's "Simple Gifts."

Dana Wilson's "Shortcut Home" and Bach's "Fantasia in G" are among several works to be performed by the Symphonic Band.
