There will be open recreation in the Arena from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., including gymnasium, indoor/outdoor track, racquetball court, swimming pool and weight room. A basketball golf tournament, open to all ages, will be conducted in the North Gym of the Health and Human Performance building from 2-3 p.m.
From 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. there will be a Favorite Recipe Brunch, open to all parents and families of both residential and commuter students. The menu includes a self-serve breakfast/lunch buffet. Tickets are $6 per person. ISU students may use their meal plan. Advance tickets may be purchased from Student Activities and Organizations.
Hulman Memorial Student Union and Student Activities and Organizations will host bingo, a game show and the annual Family-Look-Alike contest. Younger visitors are invited to hear stories read aloud by Peanut the Clown in the ISU Bookstore at 11:30 a.m.
Various departments and organizations will host open houses throughout the day. Attendees are encouraged to check the schedule at the Family Day registration and information table for times and locations.
Burford, Blumberg and Cromwell residence halls will have open houses from 1-2 p.m. to provide families a chance to see their student's home away from home as well as learn about the services offered to first-year students. Other campus activities include:
- ISU softball tournament, all day, Price Field, free admission
- Ebony Majestic Choir practice, noon-2 p.m., African American Cultural Center
Families are encouraged to visit the Terre Haute Street Fair in conjunction with Family Day. The downtown streets will be filled with the sounds of live music, food, arts and car displays.

Indiana State University will host it annual Family Day 2006 on Saturday, Sept. 23. This annual event is an opportunity for ISU students to show their appreciation for the important role that families play in their education and their lives.
