Indianapolis Jazz Company to perform at ISU Sept. 20

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Indianapolis Jazz Company will open the Indiana State University Jazz Artist Series Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Center for Performing Arts, located at the corner of Seventh and Chestnut streets.

The Indianapolis Jazz Company brings together five musicians who have shaped jazz music in Indiana for the last 30 years -- David Young,tenor saxophone; Clifford Ratliff,trumpet; Melvin Rhyne, piano; Frank Smith, bass; and Kevin Johnson on drums. The group will perform standards and jazz standards including Dizzy Gillespie's "Con Alma," Johnny Mandel's "Emily," and Carl Fischer's "You've Changed."

Upcoming concerts in the Jazz Artist Series include The Caswell Sisters on Oct. 3 and the Jim Perry/David Sapp Jazz Quintet on Nov. 1.
