ISU offering classes for fitness instructors

February 20 2006

Indiana State University and the National Exercise Trainers Association, a non-profit fitness professional association, will be co-sponsoring nationally recognized group exercise workshops to train fitness professionals in March.

The two classes being offered are Group Exercise Certification on March 4 and Cardio Dance on March 5. Both classes start at 8 a.m. in the ISU Health and Human Performance building, at Fifth and Chestnut streets, in Room B-93, near the south end of the building.

Advance registration is required and there is a fee for these classes. To register, call 1-800-AEROBIC, or register online at www.netafit.org

In the Group Exercise Certification class, potential and current fitness instructors will learn basic academic and practical application of teaching group exercise.

No college, science or teaching background is required. Workshop registration includes a full-day review, written exam, two-year certificate and membership.

In the Cardio Dance class, participants will develop creative choreography for their favorite cardio classes. They will earn to apply the principles of building choreography with the movement and flair from different styles of dance.
