LILLY TEACHER CREATIVITY FELLOWS VISIT, PRESENT AT ISU

WHO: Some of the best teachers from across Indiana have received Teacher Creativity Fellowships from the Lilly Endowment, Inc. A sampling of those Lilly Teacher Creativity Fellows will visit Indiana State Universitys campus tomorrow and Wednesday for a variety of activities with pre-service/future teachers in ISUs elementary, early and special education department and with others from the ISU community at large.

WHAT, WHEN & WHERE: Gallery Walk Presentations and Reception: Feb. 6 - from 5 to 7:30 p.m., College of Education, 11th floor (room 1) Presentations: *Karin Hutsell (Hickory Center Elementary School) - Kenya - Huttsell shares ways she has used her grant experience in Kenya to motivate kids to learn. *Betty Jo Harper (Northrop High School) - Arhcaeoastronomy - the astronomy of the ancients. *Sylvia Hyde (Clay Middle School) - The Quest for Camelot - a history of Arthurian sites and the research done to write a novel. *Judy Kinsey (Harrison Elementary School) - Project-based learning units: Wetlands Studies and Indiana Scrapbooks.

Getting that first teaching job Feb. 7 - from 4 to 6 p.m., College of Education, 11th floor (room 1) Panel presentation to discuss tips for interviewing, hiring, job search process. Presenters: John Bret Lewis, superintendent; Kevin Stewart, high school principal; Mike Sowers, junior high principal; Kathy L. Rowe, elementary principal and curriculum coordinator.

WHY: These Lilly Fellows are coming to ISU as a free service to the universitys student-teachers and the College of Education. Their hopes are to pass on some of the excitement they have for the Lilly Teacher Creativity Fellowship program and for teaching in general.
