The two classes are being offered -- Group Exercise Certification on March 17 and Total Body Conditioning on March 18. Both classes start at 8 a.m. in the ISU Health and Human Performance building, at Fifth and Chestnut streets, in Room B-93, near the south end of the building.

In the Group Exercise Certification class, potential and current fitness instructors will learn basic academic and practical application of teaching group exercise.
Workshop registration includes a full-day review and demonstrations in anatomy, kinesiology, physiology, nutrition, cueing, and choreography, written exam, two-year certificate and membership.
In the Total Body Conditioning class, participants will investigate safety, efficacy, biomechanics and coaching skills for a wide variety of resistance exercises using body weight, rubberized tubing and/or hand held weights. Course material includes exercise programming that targets the core, upper and lower body musculature.

Indiana State University and the National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA), a non-profit fitness professional association, will be co-sponsoring nationally recognized group exercise workshops to train fitness professionals in March.
