Art exhibition showcases work of ISU Art faculty

August 20 2007

Terre Haute, Ind. â€" The Department of Art celebrates the beginning of the academic year with “Put into Practice: Faculty Exhibition 2007.” This annual exhibition, featuring recent works from current and emeriti faculty, will be on display from Aug. 29-Sept. 21, with a public reception to honor the artists on Thursday, Aug. 30, from 5-7 p.m.

An old fashioned Ice-Cream Social will be held in conjunction with the opening reception. Both are open and free to the public.

“Put into Practice” is representative of the established strengths of ISU’s Art Department. This showcase of past and present faculty offers a rich survey of drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, and video. It is a unique opportunity for students and the community to witness the prolific pursuit of our art educators literally put into practice.

The University Art Gallery is located in the Center for Performing and Fine Arts at the corner of Seventh and Chestnut Streets. The Gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. All gallery events are free and open to the public and the facility is wheelchair accessible. For additional information call (812) 237-3720 or go to www.indstate.edu/artgallery.

The University Art Gallery hosts exhibitions, visiting artists, and scholars throughout the academic year. Our mission of exposing cutting edge contemporary art to ISU and Terre Haute would not be possible without the generous support of Arts Illiana, Indiana Arts Commission, College of Arts and Sciences, and the Department of Art.
