This 120 - voice symphonic chorus comprised of students, faculty, and community singers, studies and performs choral masterworks with the ISU Symphony Orchestra and professional soloists each semester. This fall's program, featuring Haydn's oratorio, "The Seasons,†will be performed November 30 in Tilson Auditorium.
Scott Buchanan, ISU director of choral activities, said this semester should be a fun learning experience.
"Coming off what many thought was a fantastic performance of the "Carmina Burana" this past spring, I am hoping that we can continue to build momentum with this organization. The diversity of the membership, combined with their willingness to aggressively tackle difficult repertoire, makes this such an enjoyable endeavor for me as a conductor,†Buchanan said.
“The talent that exists in this community is amazing and it is very gratifying to work with a group that has the ability to perform music of this magnitude."
Masterworks' first rehearsal of the season will be September 10 from 7 - 9 p.m. in Room 150 of the Center for Performing and Fine Arts, located at the corner of Seventh and Chestnut Streets. A $30 activity fee will be assessed to cover musical expenses each semester, unless registered for ISU credit.
