Career Fair at ISU Sept. 12

September 5 2007

Terre Haute, Ind. - The career centers of Indiana State University and St. Mary-of-the-Woods College are sponsoring a Career Opportunity Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12 in the north gym of the Health and Human Services Building (formerly the Health and Human Performance Building) at ISU.

This event is open to students, alumni, and graduate students who are interested in looking for career information, internships and professional positions. More than 110 employers will be present at this career fair, including Clarian Health Partners, Cummins Engine Company, Disney College Program, Eli Lilly, Frito Lay, Internal Revenue Service, Indiana State Police, Indiana Excise Police, Kemper, Lockton, Sony DADC, State Farm Insurance, Union Hospital Health Group and Wishard Health Services.

This is a time for students to meet one-on-one with employers. Students should have their resumé with them and be prepared to speak with recruiters. Participants can go online to register for the career fair at https://isu1.indstate.edu/careercenter/career_fairs/cof_stu_reg.asp and upload a copy of their resume.

The ISU Insurance and Risk Management program has partnered with the career fair to benefit students and employers, according to Dianna Cooper-Bolinskey, associate director of experiential learning at the ISU Career Center.

“When separate recruiting events were held on campus, employers would have to choose which event to attend,” Cooper-Bolinskey said. “By combining efforts, employers have the opportunity to come to campus and recruit for all of their needs in one stop.”

Students are the real winners of the partnership.

“Our students have a broader access to more companies while Insurance and Risk Management students have access to more companies,” she added. “Bottom line, it’s more employers and students in one location with a centralized focus on jobs and student engagement with employers.”

Cooper-Bolinskey said she hopes to partner with other academic areas in a similar fashion to further benefit students.

“The more students that attend, the more employers we can attract,” she said.

The event is made possible through the generous support of its sponsors - Disney College Program, First Investors, Indiana Advisory Group, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, Wal-Mart, Allrisks, Cintas, Fastenal, Masterbrand Cabinets, Monarch Beverage, Ryan Fire Protection and Westfield Insurance.
