F.i.T. for the Future conference set for Sept. 28

September 18 2007

High school girls will get a taste of technology and manufacturing careers, and hear from women working in those industries, at the first F.i.T. for the Future conference at Indiana State University’s College of Technology on Sept. 28.

Conference attendees will participate in hands-on activities, facilitated by ISU female technology majors, in three areas of their choosing, including automotive, aviation, computers, construction, education and training, electronics, manufacturing, mechanical, packaging and robotics.

They will meet women working in a variety of technical fields, and learn how these females chose their careers and the paths they have followed in building their careers. Participants will get real-world advice on how to take advantage of opportunities in the world of technology, engineering and manufacturing.

The conference is from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Myers Technology Center at ISU. The cost is $5, which includes lunch, workshop materials, and a F.i.T. for the Future T-shirt.

To register, contact Bev Bitzegaio at (812) 237-3575 or via e-mail at bitz@indstate.edu by Sept. 21. More information about the conference is available online at www.indstate.edu/tss/FIT/fitforthefuture.
