Indiana State University, the Terre Haute fire and police departments
and Vigo County Emergency Management Agency will conduct a
disaster exercise on Wednesday, May 20. The event will simulate a
chemical spill from a rail car on the northwest side of campus.
Activity will be concentrated in and around the north half of Lincoln
Quad at Fifth and Tippecanoe streets and the Student Services
Building.
While disaster exercises have been conducted on campus in the past,
this will be the first such drill to occur during the regular
university workday. The exercise is expected to have a minimal impact
on the majority of the campus, but be aware that emergency vehicles
and personnel will be active in the area of Lincoln Quad from 9 a.m. to
noon on Wednesday. Persons not involved in the drill should avoid
this area.
